So Every Child Can Begin the School Year with a Smile, Not a Burden: Al-Bailsan Charitable Association Organizes Schoolbag Distribution Initiative and Reaffirms Its Commitment to Education and Community Solidarity
Hindaza, Birid'ah and Khalayel Al-Louz – Palestine | 2 September 2026
As Palestinian families prepare to welcome a new academic year, many continue to face difficult financial circumstances and increasing living costs. For some families, providing basic school supplies has become a significant challenge. What may appear to be a simple schoolbag to some can represent a serious financial burden for a family struggling to meet the basic needs of its children.
It is against this backdrop, and with the belief that every child deserves to enter school with dignity, confidence and hope, that Al-Bailsan Charitable Association – Palestine organized its schoolbag distribution initiative for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The initiative was not merely about distributing schoolbags. It was a humanitarian and community message: Palestinian children deserve support, education and a dignified beginning to their academic journey.
Al-Bailsan: Turning Charity into a Lasting Community Mission
As part of its “Back to School” Project, Al-Bailsan Charitable Association distributed schoolbags and educational supplies to eligible students registered with the Association.
The initiative aims to support families facing economic difficulties, reduce the financial burden associated with the beginning of the school year, and ensure that children can return to their classrooms with a greater sense of confidence and belonging.
The Association views charitable work not simply in terms of what is provided, but through the impact it creates in people’s lives: the smile of a child, the relief of a family, and the knowledge that the community stands beside its children.
Through its continued field activities, Al-Bailsan Charitable Association – Palestine seeks to strengthen its role as an active community institution dedicated to humanitarian service, social solidarity and support for Palestinian families.
Mr. Sami Al-Qurna “Abu Mahmoud”: Leadership Driven by Service
At the heart of the Association’s continued efforts stands Mr. Sami Al-Qurna “Abu Mahmoud,” President of Al-Bailsan Charitable Association, whose ongoing work and follow-up have contributed significantly to strengthening the Association’s community presence and supporting its humanitarian initiatives.
His approach is based on the conviction that serving people is not merely a slogan, but a responsibility requiring commitment, presence, follow-up and continuous effort.
Together with the members of the Association’s Board of Directors, volunteers, donors and community partners, Mr. Al-Qurna has worked to transform humanitarian initiatives from ideas into tangible support reaching those who need it most.
The Association emphasizes that the success and continuity of such initiatives are made possible through the collective efforts of donors, community members, volunteers and institutional partners who believe in the importance of supporting Palestinian families and children.
Official and Community Participation
The schoolbag distribution event was attended by prominent local figures, including:
Eng. Rateb Obeiat, Mayor of Hindaza, Birid'ah and Khalayel Al-Louz Municipality;
Mr. Yousef Al-Qurna, Deputy Mayor;
Hajj Abu Iyad Al-Qurna, respected tribal and community figure;
as well as Mr. Sami Al-Qurna “Abu Mahmoud,” President of Al-Bailsan Charitable Association, members of the Association’s Board of Directors, volunteers and supporters.
Their participation reflects the importance of cooperation between local authorities, charitable organizations and community leaders in strengthening social responsibility and responding to the needs of Palestinian families.
More Than a Schoolbag
The schoolbag placed in the hands of every child carries a meaning far greater than the supplies inside it.
It tells every student:
“You matter. Your education matters. Your future matters.”
This is the message that Al-Bailsan Charitable Association seeks to reinforce through its humanitarian and community programs.
Education should never be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. Financial hardship should not prevent a child from having the basic tools needed to learn, participate and pursue a better future.
Through initiatives such as the Back to School Project, the Association continues to work toward strengthening community solidarity and expanding partnerships with individuals, institutions and donors in order to create a wider and more sustainable impact.
A Message of Gratitude
At the conclusion of the event, Al-Bailsan Charitable Association – Palestine extends its sincere appreciation to Hindaza, Birid'ah and Khalayel Al-Louz Municipality, its Mayor Eng. Rateb Obeiat, Deputy Mayor Mr. Yousef Al-Qurna, Hajj Abu Iyad Al-Qurna, the members of the Association’s Board of Directors, volunteers and everyone who contributed to the success of the initiative.
The Association also extends its deepest gratitude to every donor, supporter and member of the community who contributed to providing the schoolbags and ensuring that they reached the children who needed them most.
Behind every schoolbag delivered to a child was a hand that chose to give, a heart that chose to care, and a belief that community solidarity can create meaningful change.
Under the leadership of Mr. Sami Al-Qurna “Abu Mahmoud”, and through the continued efforts of the Board of Directors, volunteers, supporters and partners, Al-Bailsan Charitable Association – Palestine reaffirms its commitment to serving the community and supporting Palestinian families and children.
